Modern watches are divided into mechanical watches and quartz watches from a large category, and there are many subdivisions for subdivision. In fact, it is more objective to divide into mechanical and electronic watches. The main difference lies in the source of travel time. The mechanical watch uses the clockwork power as the power source, and the electronic watch uses electricity as the power source. There are many kinds of electronic watches: tuning forks, quartz watches, radio meters, satellite watches... Among them, quartz watches account for the largest proportion, nearly 90%, so that today, people feel that quartz watches are independent enough, and even people put them in parallel with electronic watches.

The quartz watch is basically powered by a battery, and the quartz crystal oscillator is used to realize the speed regulation and timing output. There are also a small number of quartz watches that do not use battery as a power source, such as human power, that is, human power generation; and light kinetic energy, that is, solar power generation. These two types of quartz watches eliminate the need to change batteries, but they also have their own aspects to be improved.

Electronic watches that do not use a quartz crystal oscillator for timing, such as tuning forks (basically eliminated, very rare), radio meters (receiving ground timing center signals), and satellite meters (receiving satellite timing signals). There are also many smart watches in the electronic watch, which is not only a mobile smart terminal.
